As for Saint EMILION's vineyards, close neighbours, the naming Castillon presents a big range of soils.

If our exploitation of Castillon, for its major part, is situated on the municipality of Ste Colombe, beautiful small hilly village in the heart of the vineyard castillonnais, a part also spreads out on the municipality of Saint Magne.

It results from it a beautiful palette of soils:

Croups sandy, on under grounds of grave.

Feet of limono-clayey hillsides.

Feet of clayey hillsides or argilo-limestone.

Hillsides argilo-limestone.

Calcareous tray(plateau).

This stemming vineyard for a big part(party), sandy grounds, with 80 in 90 % of merlot (pay(balance) in Cabernet), raised(brought up) in trunks of 1 and 2 wines, is qualitatively very close to our Castle BERTINAT LARTIGUE, considered in naming Saint EMILIION.

This nurse's vineyard average in long ( 7 - 10 years), is typified by its animal bouquet bound(connected) to the merlot, as well as by its sharpness and its elegance bound(connected) to the sandy soil. In brief a vineyard which deserves a little of patience!..

VINES	90% merlot ; 10% cabernet.
GROUNDS	Sand 80%, argilo-limestone 20%.
PRODUCTION	10 to 25000 Bottles on average
BREEDING IS	from 8 to 12 months.
CONSERVATION	10-year-old nurse.
TASTING	between 6 and 10 years.
DESCRIPTION ORGANOLEPTIQUE	Generally of a colour ruby with a nose of red fruit in young wine, notes of black currant, this vineyard expresses himself in its maximum between 6 and 10 years with: -an abounding in game nose and of under wood. -an amber colour. -an ample, round and supple mouth. -an impression of general elegance.
